Diabetes Treatment Using Alternative Therapies

Diabetes treatment is one health problem that has been the topics of a certain number of studies now. Past researches have provided results, and up until now, the search for other means of treatment for this disease is still on its peak.

One of the many treatments discovered is the means of alternative therapies. The following are the alternative therapies used in treating diabetes.

• Water therapy is one of these alternatives. Water is best in cleaning our body and in flushing out of toxins. It is also effective in lowering the sugar level in blood.
• Weight loss is another means recommended for diabetes. Weight has always been associated with diabetes. Weight loss in terms of exercise and proper diet are both suggested. There are also other weight loss products considered as means of alternative therapy that can help treat diabetic people.
• Supplements like chromium, magnesium, and vanadium are used to control glucose, or sugar, inside our bodies. These supplements are yet to be recommended for issues about their benefits against risks.
• A lot of plant foods are beneficial to diabetic people. Quite a good number of plant foods rich in fiber are good in controlling the glucose levels in blood. Garlic, ginger, hawthorn, and nettle are some herbs being proposed as diabetes treatment. However, these are still yet to be clinically proven. Sage, peas, buckwheat, okra, brewer’s yeast, fenugreek seeds, broccoli and other related greens are some of the plant foods found to help those with type 2 diabetes.

A lot of herbal stimulants for diabetes have been banned due to issues about their side effects. While herbs are said to be effective in most cases, talking to the doctor first is still very important. Herbal stimulants for diabetes were found to have positive effects. However, to some people, the side effects were greater, resulting to other health problems such as urinary infection, high blood pressure, insomnia, and glaucoma. Some of these herbal stimulants were also associated to stroke.

The following are guides when considering using herbal products.

• Be sure to consult your doctor. Discuss with him or her all medications including herbal products. Even herbs can be dangerous when taken without approval from your doctor. Herbal products are indeed natural; however there are still side effects that might be harmful to your health.
• Side effects like skin rashes, nausea, vomiting, anxiety, insomnia, rapid heartbeat, or diarrhea should be discussed with your doctor.
• When choosing a herbal product, as much as possible, avoid those made of more than one herb, unless with the approval from your doctor.
• Herbal products should be backed up with information that is scientific-based.
• Even herbal products expire. Be sure to have the expiration date in mind. Also, keep in mind the potential side effects. Know the herb used in the product, and also the manufacturer.

There are a lot more alternative therapies that are said to help treat diabetes like acupuncture. When considering any of these, ensure that you know how it works, including its potential risk.

Almost 2 years ago my wife bought a diabetes book (titled “death to Diabetes”) about super foods and lost 27 pounds. More importantly, her average BS went down to 87.4 and a1c to 5.1% and her doctor took her off the diabetic medication. But, he says she’ll be back on medication in a year or so.

When a friend asked her how she lost so much weight and got off her meds, she told her and helped her until her friend had lost 15 pounds and her doctor reduced her meds. Then, my wife helped her aunt, and then a neighbor down the street.

Anyhow, I felt that I had nothing to lose, so, I listened to my wife and tried this man’s super foods and raw food diet program. He calls it his “Death to Diabetes” wellness program, but the title doesn’t make sense, does it? My wife says it does to her, but not to me. But, maybe I shouldn’t complain, because my BS average went down to 85.6, my a1c to 4.9%, and I LOST 37 POUNDS in about 5 months [my wife is jealous :-)]

The author (Dewayne Mcculley, http://www.deathtodiabetes.com) almost DIED from a diabetic coma, his book is well-written and very thorough — he believes in raw food dieting, juicing, etc., and explains step by step what to do. It’s so simple!

I was a little afraid of raw foods, I think because of the “bland” taste. But this author provides a lot of cool tips about how to make Brussel sprouts and broccoli taste sweet but still healthy for you! And, it works! I always hated Brussel sprouts because they’re so BITTER, but not anymore! :-)

The author is an engineer. He breaks down the medical jargon and explains how diabetes really works, and why some diets won’t work, and why certain foods are necessary for blood glucose stabilization. He also explains all the myths about diabetes.

p.s. I am so happy to be off the diabetic drugs! AND I FEEL GREAT! So does my wife. I wish she would do what many of you are doing. But, she thinks it’s hard, and a lot of work.
p.s. It’s been more than a year now, and my wife’s doctor is surprised that she hasn’t had to go back on medication. He’s trying to convince her to take a low dose to be on safe side.
(Does that make sense to anyone? — doesn’t to me or my wife).

    Sincerely,
    Richard

    Hello,

I have been a diabetic for 5 years. 4 months ago I started taking a product call “Madhusar”. It has completely changed my condition from out of control to in control using almost half the insulin. I publish my glucose charts every month online.

    Sincerely,

    Jim Brooks
